I managed to escape the insanity again. The woman and I went to Banff over the long Fourth of July weekend. Given a choice, I always leave the US during Independence Day holiday weekend.
Too damn many drunks with attitude problems.
Too many cops with attitude problems.
I think I’ve been ‘in country’ once in the last 8 years if memory serves me right.
Anyway…
Our first night in BC was on Canada Day. That meant fireworks at our hotel in Fairmont. A nice mellow affair with kids sliding down a grassy hill as the warm-up entertainment. I’ve never had fireworks going off right over my head before, as in we had to dodge the embers as they fell. Nice.
Our next hotel was in Canmore, AB. We stayed there for two nights as we explored new parts of the park. Then back to Fairmont for a couple more nights.
We had a very nice, mellow, quiet holiday.
PS: Still no news on my Super Ténéré. <sigh>
