Moto days are better
My days are usually better when I ride. Maybe it is being forced into the moment instead of the esoteric world of software development where I spend most of my time. I had a Doctor’s appointment this morning so I slept in and took my time then I was late. It didn’t matter because a previous patient had a bunch of stuff to discuss and appointments were running one hour late. I cooled my heals and read a mag I’d picked up at PADNUG last night. I had had a nice mellow ride to the Doktor’s office so I was mellow and ready for whatever chaos I encountered.
The PADNUG talk was on WCF Web Services and Unit Testing. The original topic was Azure but the presenter bailed, so we had a fill-in. The talk was mildly interesting. There seemed to be a “smartest guy in the room” contest going on. Every question was more obscure than the last. Yawn.
I just wanted to win a free O/S or something at the end of presentation give-away… My real goal for any presentation is to learn 1 or possibly 2 new things. I think I learned a Visual Studio trick, but I have not managed to try it out to know for sure. I learned a bit about writing web services with WCF but that isn’t something I am doing at the moment so I will probably forget it all before I need it.
The weather is turning crappy again, so my riding may be much more limited in the coming days. Rain is scheduled for the rest of the week. Contrast that to 76 and overcast when I left work yesterday.
PS: The steering damper and touring windscreen make the SuperDuke a much more enjoyable commuter bike. The head shake is gone and the wind blast doesn’t bounce my helmet around. I can even close my visor without it fogging up. I’m not 100% sure what the windscreen did to the air flow, but I like it. The steering damper is set to the manual advised settings of 20 clicks from zero damping setting. I’m not sure about the gel saddle. It works, but it is hard to slide around for the corners when you butt is planted.
