Sixx: AM
Courtesy Call
The Heroin Diaries

*Dialtone, knocking, Mexican TV*
Female voice: Housekeeping…
*Knocking*
Female: Hello, housekeeping?
*Tries, door, knocking*
Female: Hello?

Well you found me, but I don’t know
Why you wanna save me…
Well, God is great and God is good
But God didn’t help me when he could
And life dances so lonely by.

This is just a courtesy call
This is just a matter of policy
This is just an act of kindness
To let you know that your time is up
This is just a courtesy call
This is just a matter of policy
This is just an act of kindness
To let you know that your time is up

I, I can’t feel anything
My arms are numb and I’m hoping
You noticed the line I left off
All that you’ll find inside
Are bells and butterflies
But I’ll be smiling when I die

This is just a courtesy call
This is just a matter of policy
This is just an act of kindness
To let you know that your time is up
This is just a courtesy call
This is just a matter of policy
This is just an act of kindness
To let you know that your time is up

This is just a courtesy call
This is just a matter of policy
This is just an act of kindness
To let you know that your time is up

*Knocking*
Female: Sir, I know you’re in there; are you okay?
Male voice: Excuse me, ma’am? Security. What’s the problem?
Female: No one answering.
Male: Who’s in here. Hello?
*Knocking*
Male: Hello? Stepping in the room now…
*Keys jingle, LOUD blunt thump, dialtone gets louder*
Male: Oh Jesus Christ!
Female: Oh! Ooh!

This is just a courtesy call
This is just a matter of policy
This is just an act of kindness
To let you know that your time is up
This is just a courtesy call
This is just a matter of policy
This is just an act of kindness
To let you know that your time is up

This is just a courtesy call
(Why’d you want to save me?)
This is just a matter of policy
(Why’d you want to save me now?)
This is just an act of kindness
(What’d you want to do it for?)
To let you know that your time is up
This is just a courtesy call
(Why would you wanna save my life?)
This is just a matter of policy
(I know you did all you could)
This is just an act of kindness
(It’s been comin’ for a long time, long time…)
To let you know that your time is up

Somedays you just shouldn’t get out of bed… Right?

I rode the FJR to work today. I was running late and I have been out of sorts for a few days. I know I pushed it too hard.

I really wanted to buy a Hypermotard this weekend but the wind has really gone out of my sails. I actually rode one yesterday. It was a forced effort. I didn’t have my gear, I was short on time, and I really wasn’t in the mood. So I didn’t really enjoy it. Borrowed helmet gave me a headache. Borrowed jacket and gloves. Riding in my tennis shoes like a squid.

The bike is certainly nice but… I’ve never ridden a dirt bike so the whole ‘missing front end’ thing kind of bothers me. The woman says all dirt bikes don’t really have a front end, just bars and the wheel. I’ve never even ridden a naked much less a dirt bike. I’ve had sport bikes, a standard, a dual sport and a sport touring. All had SOMETHING in my field of vision when I rode. Oh well… Maybe the Hyper really isn’t the bike for me.

I survived my suicidal commute and sat at my desk all day long, thinking. When I left, I rode to the western end of Skyline then back to my usual cut down to Hwy 30. The FJR was flawless as usual. I was in a semi-mellow mood so there wasn’t any corner drama unless I misread the gravel patches. There was still snow on the shoulders in the dark corners and shadier straights. The temps started to fall as the sun began to set. 52 down to 43. I wanted to avoid Marine Drive but Columbia Blvd is being resurfaced. Not good for a motorcyle. Everything was OK until that last section where the road turns toward the Gorge and the wind effect ramps up. So I frooze my ass off in that last 3 miles before I could turn away from the river. Now I’m home and house is silent. All of the pets are sleep and I assume the woman is too.

I guess it is just one of those days…
