All Hallos Eve

October 31st, 2008 No comments

At the woman’s request, I picked up some Shinedown last night. Me being me, I had to buy all of them. The record store had three albums: Leave a Whisper (2004), Us and Them (2005), and The Sound of Madness (2008). The general rule is that I get first swipe at any new record. I rip everything, so I can listen to them at work and/or burn them to an mp3 disc which I can play in my truck and she destroys CD by throwing them around in the car. It’s a known issue. She know’s it. I know it. So, let’s just deal with it before we loose the music. I think I will start copying the CDs before I give them over. That way we can keep the original in the collection, undamaged while she uses and abuses the copy. Problem solved.

Anyway, traffic was a total disaster this morning. Read more…

Fog enshrouds

Fog enshrouded the West Hills this morning. Tucked behind the fairing, only my knees suffered the cold on this morning. Quiet. Mellow. Slicing through the cages and double tanker trucks.

The Lady Wore Black

Last night, I left work around 18:30. The sun had already set and I needed fuel. My FJR can go about 40 miles after the fuel light comes on. I had traveled 14. A mellow stop at Chevron and I was on my way. North on Cornelius Pass Rd to Skyline. I turned left on NW Newberry Rd (Map) and start my descent to Hwy 30. The road is a mix of left and right, with a few 10 mph corners throw in at odd moments. I have run wide once than once on the 2 tight right handers. Tonight, The Lady Wore Black by Queensryche fills my helmet. Read more…

“…rifle-toting, serially pregnant moose killer who thinks God lobbies for oil pipelines.”

So…

I’ve been working… a lot. Feast or famine is my motto. When I was talking with the significant other a couple weeks ago, she asked why I never write about being happy or at least a reasonably cheery topic.

“Hmm… If I’m happy I’m off living my life and not writing a blog entry.”
“Maybe so, but you could put a little effort into writing about something that made you smile.”
“OK.”

Here goes…

“You want me to rally the base? Fine, I’ll rally the base. Here, I’ll choose this rifle-toting, serially pregnant moose killer who thinks God lobbies for oil pipelines. Happy now?”

I couldn’t stop laughing when I read that line. It comes from Rolling Stone. Specifically page two of an article on Sarah Palin. (link). The cover story this month is on McCain and his storied past. The irony is that his storied past is full of holes, misrepresentations and carnage in one form or another. Did you know he watched the Forestall burn from the ready room after saving his own skin first, while others gave their lives to save that ship. He went below decks and watch the TV monitors. Did you know he broke when a POW? I knew that and wouldn’t hold it against him. Did you know he told he captors that his daddy was the admiral in-charge of the US fight at the time? He leveraged the facts to get medical care and preferred treatment from his captors. Did you know that he had a 9 month affair with his second wife while still married to the first? Did you know he crashed 4 Navy jets and used his family influence to keep his wings. Isn’t the policy, crash one and loose your wings? It took 4 crashed planes before he lost his wings. Even dumb-ass W can fly better than McCain and I truly hate to admit W is good at anything. Did you know he publically called his current wife a cunt?

Go ahead, dig a little deeper. Look at all of the sources you can gather and see what kind of guy McCain really is. I don’t envy him his life or the situation he has found himself in. The very idea of prison of any kind makes my skin crawl. I can’t imagine the horrors of being held by people with a certain negative disposition toward Americans.

In the meantime, I think I will chuckle at the line from Rolling Stone.

Back to my code.
