Grand Ideas
So… I’m riding to work this morning thinking about something. I don’t recall what I was actually thinking about. What I find amusing is I KNOW it was something interesting. Maybe it was word etymologies and something to do with symbolic logic. Yeah. That was probably it. Maybe the topic will come back to me later in the day.
Do you ever do that? Think about a topic and feel like it is has meaning and worth. Like you really need to hold on to the idea, then lose it the swirling minutia of life? So much for grand ideas.
The current plan is to get the DL ready for sale this weekend. I rode it this morning. It needs fuel. Everything works. Starts. Stops. Turns. It just isn’t what I really want to ride these days and I need to streamline a few things. Unloading another bike and dropping the insurance coverage would be another step in the right direction. If I get another bike anytime soon it will probably be a supermoto bike. The DL is a great bike, but it is a compromise and I don’t want a compromise. I want a full-on psycho-race bike ala supermoto style or I want a big bad ass naked that will pull power wheelies at 100 (like the FJR) or I want a full-on sport bike. The DL has hints of all of these but does none of them very well. The front end pushes when you corner hard. I would never think of jumping the DL like a real trail/supermoto bike. The TL derived motor has lots of power but it isn’t tuned for hardcore agression. <shrug> Time for it to go. I’ll ride the FJR for another year or two, then start looking for a SM bike in earnest.
