Tick Tock

April 30th, 2008 No comments

Tomorrow, after work, I’m skipping out for a few days. I have a ton of code to write before I escape and many obsticles to my progress. I cracked a tooth yesterday. I have an appointment to get that checked out in a couple hours. I have 4 hours of SQL training tomorrow and I have a long list of bugs to fix. The clock is ticking.

Tick. Tock.

Mondays

It is Monday. It feels like a Monday. I need a nap or more Red Bull. Time to drop back into that programming groove and re-write the world.

While cruising around the other day I found this link.  http://twochicks.com  It looks like they can/will create any custom license plate holder that you like.  Interesting…

Site Mods

A test image…KTM\'s 990 Super Duke Motorcycle

If you didn’t notice I upgraded to WordPress 2.5. It was not exactly a fun event, but it wasn’t too bad. I have been thinking about changing my site and Laura asked me to upgrade so she could use some of the new features. I still don’t have her stuff migrated over, but getting mine up proves I can do a successful upgrade.

So it is coming along… I hope to get my site tweaked out in a couple of days. Just as I hope to get Laura’s upgrade finished over the weekend.

Update:
I upgraded Laura’s blog as well. It is still running so I guess the upgrade worked. I’m sure she will tell me if it didn’t work. ;)
I added a new comment filter, so I turned comments back on. I was getting tons of porn spam before the new filters kicked in.

Insanity Returns

April 22nd, 2008 No comments

Long hours working on side projects, then mind-numbing efforts to write documentation and finish up a few lines of code during the day… It could all drive me insane. I need a break. Thankfully, I’ve got some vacation days scheduled in the next couple of weeks. I simply have to keep everything locked down until then.

Bad weather rolled into Portland last weekend. A huge winter storm dumped snow on Seattle and forced nasty weather into the Portland metro. It snowed in the upper elevations. Rain and hail in the valley. I haven’t ridden as a result. I have got farther along on getting the DL ready to sell. I put on the new turn signals on. I need to put the body work back on the front of the bike, since I had to pull everything off to modify the backside of the panel to get the correct fit. I pulled the crash guards as well. I’ll get the hints of rust sanded off and repaint them in my prefered flat balk. I changed the oil and filter. The bike needs to be cleaned up then it will be time to list it. I will regret seeing it go, but it really is time for it. I have my FJR and right now, that’s all I need. I need to reduce some overhead and streamline things a bit. Soon enough, I will be back at it, buying another bike.

Favorites

April 18th, 2008 No comments

I was reminded this morning of one of my all-time favorite rides: Red Bluff to Fortuna. Someday, I will do it again.

There are other favorites: Skyline Rd, after work, on a week night when few people are around. An early moring ride through the desert around Heptner. 99 between Pemberton and Lilliooet in the late fall. A road, just south of Lake Tahoe…

Grand Ideas

April 17th, 2008 No comments

So… I’m riding to work this morning thinking about something. I don’t recall what I was actually thinking about. What I find amusing is I KNOW it was something interesting. Maybe it was word etymologies and something to do with symbolic logic. Yeah. That was probably it. Maybe the topic will come back to me later in the day.

Do you ever do that? Think about a topic and feel like it is has meaning and worth. Like you really need to hold on to the idea, then lose it the swirling minutia of life? So much for grand ideas.

Pissed

I woke up grumpy.

I’m working on my taxes which continues to remind me just how much I loathe my ex-wife. There are days when… To make matters worse I trashed the site configuration for ALL of my hosted sites. Read more…

Canceled

NetFlix – Gone
BMG – Gone

I have grown tired of being hassled with reminders and monthly charges for services I am not using to the fullest. So, I have started canceling services that I don’t know that I have to have. Getting rid of my PDA and it’s $120 monthly chage for service might be a challenge but I am thinking about it… Can the CS Geek disconnect? (Doubt it.)

Hubble

April 9th, 2008 No comments

I stumbled across Hubble this morning. This Hubble has nothing to do with astonomy. Basically, Hubble is a tool that scans the net doing trace routes on all public addresses. It keeps track of which addresses were available and which ones were advertised as available but were unreachable. Below is the complete description from the site.

Enjoy. Read more…
