Evolution continues…
Yesterday was the summer solstice, which usually requires some outdoor activity, since I live in front of a monitor all day, every day. This self-imposed requirement is a good thing. I rode the FJR out to Bald Peak, through Laurelwood and up to Forrest Grove. Basically, I returned to some of my old haunts.
I am starting to be concerned about my right leg. When I crashed on my mountain bike I rotated my foot in the wrong direction when I ejected from my pedals. In the process, I twisted the cleat about 30 degrees past my normal range and the receiver plate in my shoe was bent. That’s not supposed to happen. Well, it has almost been two weeks and I still can’t walk very well. I can get around but after about 50 feet, I am having problems. My thigh has stopped hurting but my knee is killing me. The farther/faster I go the more it hurts. I am considering bailing out of tomorrow’s downhill ride and making an appointment with an ortho doc next week. This sucks.
Yesterday was a special day for me on a few fronts. I am struggling through a variety of small and not-so small scale issues. Yesterday clarified things. There is only so much I can do. Those around me will either be happy with me or not. I will give what and when I can. The days of me bending over backwards and sacrificing myself are (hopefully) a thing of the past. This doesn’t mean that I am not willing to be flexible. On the contrary, I want to be more cooperative, but there are limits. Time is finite and (as far as we know) a one-way proposition. This moment that I am taking to write, is go in the moment I realize its existence. If I stop and share then great, but don’t give me a bunch of greif because today isn’t like yesterday. I’m not that same guy. You’re not hte same person either. We grow. We evolve each and every day. The only people who don’t are dead to me anyway.
Supreme Court ruled on a case yesterday that impacts Scooter Libby’s case. It looks like the lit’ lying sack will have to actually serve his fully 30 month sentence. (This assumes King George doesn’t pardon him on the way out.) That one of my favorite traits in the Republicans, they feel that laws don’t apply to them. Lie in court? That’s OK. We’ll get you a pardon. You say you want tort reform, but you use every fucking sneaky lawyer trick to hide your own activities. Yes, I am referring to Dick(head) Cheney’s refusal to comply with comply with regulations related to classified documents and national security. As I understand it, the request, backed by “Presidential Decree” (or whatever King George does) is trivial. But the office of the vice president refuses to disclose just how much classified data has flowed through their office. Now, he is claiming that his duties for the Senate provide an exemption since his office is not purely contained within the Administrative branch of the government. Poppy-cock! I had written something else which included the “C” word, but let’s not go there. (Link)
