Sort of…

I rode. I didn’t make it to the coast per say… By the time I actually got rolling it was already after 17:00 and rain was rolling into downtown. I sneaked around a bit then took a twisty road up to council crest, then dropped on to Skyline right off of 26. I could see rain over the valley, but it was pretty clear up on the ridge. I followed Skyline until I got to Newberry, then dropped down to 30 so I could rip around Sauve Island. I had been thinking of eating at Rock Creek Tavern, but I started thinking about the Halibut at the Riverside Inn in Cathlamet. North on 30 past Rainier…

I had the ferry time wrong. I had assumed it was on the half hour, since the WA side departure is on the hour. Nope. It leaves Oregon at 15 after. I when pulled in right at 19:30, I was a bit disappointed. At least I hadn’t missed it completely. It was very cold down on the water. I put the DL on its center stand, and wandered around looking for a place to sit down out of the wind. Being cold and a bit odd, I decided to build a little fire. That was an amusing exercise. Successful, but amusing. I had about 15 minutes of warmth before the ferry showed up. I buried everything under gravel, and proceeded onto the ferry…

I ordered a cheeseburger with a baked potato. Go figure.

It was a bit dicey getting back to Longview. My fuel light was on as I left Cathlamet the last time I pushed it, I ran out of fuel. That was not fun. It was even less fun when Tony swallowed super-unleaded from his tank in an effort to transfer fuel between my bike and his. He belched unleaded all night. That was funny.

Scored at a Shell station.
Crossed town to the I-5 connector.
Headed south toward PDX and back into the rain.

Why was it only rainy, windy, and generally crappy in Portland?

The DL has over 11,700 miles on it.
The FJR, which I rode down to my Mom’s today, had almost 8,000 miles on it.
The YZF is sitting in a corner of my garage. I rolled 26,000 on it weeks ago… or was that 27,000?
The Rukus is at Tony’s place. I need to retrieve it one of these days in the near future…
