Fatigue

May 4th, 2007

I’m tired.

Another week is done. I got a few things done. I had a few things blow up. I go a few things to work. I wrote some code I like. I didn’t ride, but my ear infection is almost gone. I had a Dr appt today for that very issue. I have another 5 days of med, then I should be good.

Right now, I’m logged into my computer at work. It puked this week. I have installed, uninstalled, and debugged so much code that it just stopped responding. My login times have been slowly climbing from under a minute to over 10. Usually once I get everything loaded up, I’m OK. But that wasn’t the case this week. With the budget project resuming any day, I thought now was the best time to rebuild it. I couldn’t get the XP install disc to work correctly, so I turned the whole effort over to the helpdesk/network guys. I needed to spend my time working on the Intranet server, so I have bigger fish to fry and not having a working desktop machine allowed me to spend most of the week in server room, far, far away from everyone else. There are days when I just want to be alone. Usually I can isolate myself with my headphones, but there are days when I don’t want to be around my teammates. Their energy is just too much, too hostile, too hyper-critical. The joys of working with someone with Asberguer Syndrome. There are days when it just seems like a feeding frenzy. Like watching piranha devouring a calf. We function as a gang. Destroying the weak and tearing down the strong. It sucks. I have got to find a better place to “do my thing.” That’s why I have started looking around to see what my options are.

Enough babbling.

Time for sleep.
