How beautifully leaves grow old. How full of light and color are their last days.

Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are even incapable of forming such opinions.

I rode. I didn’t make it to the coast per say… By the time I actually got rolling it was already after 17:00 and rain was rolling into downtown. I sneaked around a bit then took a twisty road up to council crest, then dropped on to Skyline right off of 26. I could see rain over the valley, but it was pretty clear up on the ridge. I followed Skyline until I got to Newberry, then dropped down to 30 so I could rip around Sauve Island. I had been thinking of eating at Rock Creek Tavern, but I started thinking about the Halibut at the Riverside Inn in Cathlamet. North on 30 past Rainier… Read more…

Lethargy

13:10. I turn on VH1 Classic. ‘Classic Albums: Machine Head’ My head is pounding. I have slept a bit too long. What an understatement. I woke up around 08:30. I couldn’t get motivated to get out of bed. I fell back to sleep. I woke up again, rolled over to a cold spot in the bed, and dropped back into dreamland. My eyes focused on the clock a few minutes after 13:00. It seemed an eternity before I could reach the remotes and turn on the TV.

I have to get up. Read more…

Fired With Enthusiasm

Interesting way to deal with dead weight in an IT department… Fired with enthusiasm

I had an interview yesterday. It was OK. I don’t know if I want the gig or not. I know that I am not very happy in my current work environment. It seems to bring out the worst in me. Just to walk into the office, I have to pull on my most aggressive and hostile armour. Incest jokes and insults about personal topics get old. No. I am not the originator of these comments. Even when I’m not the target, it gets old. Fast.

Yesterday and Today

May 9th, 2007 No comments

Yesterday:
I rode instead of going out to lunch.

I rode across town to meet my Mom for dinner.

I rode after dinner. This last outing was the most fun. I was already on the west side of town and I felt like retracing old routes. I rode across Balk Peak, through Laurelwood and Gaston. Then I crossed over to West Union and hooked up with Skyline. Twists and turns, back into PDX. By this point, the sun had set and I had flipped up my visor as bugs splattered against my mirrored Oakleys.

Unexpected vacation

May 7th, 2007 No comments

Saturday around 14:00, I finally rolled out.
Sunday around 14:00, I returned.

An unplanned overnight stay in Madras. Roughly 450 miles traveled. No problems with the passes near Mt Hood. No tickets. A few missteps, but nothing critical. It was a very nice way to spend a weekend.

True Norwegian Black Metal
Beginning of a 5 part documentary series from VBS.TV. I watched all fve. Black Metal isn’t really my thing, but I am always curious what’s going on out there in the void. Of course, little 6 minute segments don’t provide much detail. Still, it is interesting. Maybe, a bit campy…

Clear Body Work?
I’ve seen a reference to clear body work being available from HotBodiesRacing, but I cannot find it on their site. Motorcycle Toy Store is selling a complete kit. Maybe it is real.

I need to get up. There is only so long I can sit in bed, sipping a Red Bull, surfing before my ass goes numb! I think today is a good day for a Klickitat run.
