False start
After my crappy week, I decided that I should try to get away for a bit. Maybe a weekend. Maybe just over night. I don’t know.
I keep feeling that what I really need is to wake up some place new or at least different. The lodge in Pemberton would be about perfect, but it is too far away with the time that I have. I have never stayed there two nights in a row. Just to sleep, lounge in the hot tub, go down to Whistler and pedal an afternoon away. Something different.
I was thinking about going to the San Juan Islands or around the Olympic Peninsula. So, after more than few delays and severe lack of motivation, I left around 20:20. I stopped in Chehalis for some food and fuel. Nothing was clicking. I wanted to get through Seattle, but Seattle wasn’t required to go around the peninsula. I couldn’t make up my mind and I really hate to force things when I ride. I make enough mistakes without intentionally adding to the list.
So, I came home. Maybe I will try again next weekend. Maybe some other distraction will appear. Who knows…
On the upside, I bought a new pair of boots tonight. I tried to order a pair of Sidi motocross boots through the shop, but they are no longer available. I had found a pair at Portland Motorcycle, but… So, today, after work, I bought them. I need to wear for an afternoon around my apartment to see how they are going to work out, but usually Sidi stuff fits me perfectly. Maybe this year I can go off-pavement and not trash my ankles in the process. I feel so old right now.
I sent my leather pants back to Vanson via FedEx. Kim is going to make me a custom pair that will really fit. I need a 34 length with a 35 waist. Things are just far enough off, that neither 34 or 35 will comfortably work. I don’t have enough room in the crotch in a 34. When I have to tuck in, there’s a problem. The 35 are fine in the waist, hips and crotch, but too long in the leg. So, I’ll get something made. I still have some credit left from a jacket I bought in December. Oh yeah, my new Streamliner arrived on Monday. It is a couple inches extra long in the body at my request, sleeves, electric, lime green interior. My existing vest in orange inside.
