I finished Roadshow. It was good. I like Peart’s writing style. Reading his stuff usually makes me crave the road. This book was no different. His travels though Europe definitely piqued my curiosity. Someday…

I’m tired, but awake. Today was long. I worked on some code edits and wrote a utility for the network department. They needed something to change sync all of the administrator passwords across the enterprise. I was given a short list of requirements and a couple possible solution paths. In the end, I dumped every suggestion and ended up with a single line of Perl code. Nice. Of course you would have to be fluent in Perl to really understand that I put 6 different expression on one line including error reporting. What can I say? I like that kind of stuff. I compiled the script so users can’t actually see the new password then emailed everything over to the Network manager.

I talked to my Mom today. She is healing, slowly. She said that she was probably going to need to fill a claim on the motorcycle insurance to get her medical bills paid up. Ugh. Let’s see… I got a speeding ticket on the DL about 18 months ago, then $7200+ damage to the Titan a couple of months ago, and now $3000+ in medical bills against the FJR policy. Hmm… Somehow, I think I will be selling at least one motorcycle just so I can continue to pay the premiums on everything else. S/F/P But it’s…

I worked on a couple projects tonight. First, I did a little web work. I can’t seem to get in the mood. I guess I need to get the new logo. Maybe that will spawn a few new ideas. Then, I swifted over to working on ‘the project.’ I have been struggling with database connectivity and design issues lately. Microsoft changed the library structure for managing database connections. The old way that I knew worked isn’t supported in the next version, so I spent a couple of hours trying to research the new way and work out an implementation. In the end, I was not successful. I am getting father along, but it still doesn’t run like it is supposed to. Maybe I can get it worked out tomorrow evening. Around 22:30, I turned off my laptop and started reading.

Now it is a few minutes before 01. I am exhausted. I don’t want to go to work in the morning. And I’m ¾ stressed out. So, I’m going to wrap this up, turn out the lights and try to sleep.
