Sold my soul

February 28th, 2006 No comments

I know it has been a long while since I have written. Things have been a little crazy in my world. Very busy and two-wheeled transport hasn’t been much of an option lately.

Where to start?

New Music:

  • Ozzy Osbourne – Under Cover
  • Tears For Fears – Songs from the Big Chair [Remastered]
  • The Psychedelic Furs – Greatest Hits
  • Melissa Etheridge – Greatest Hits
  • Robert Plant – Sixty Six to Timbuktu
  • Ministry – Greatest Fits
  • Violent Femmes – Permanent Record: The Very Best Of
  • Big Country – The Best Of

I think I was stuck on “Greatest Hit” albums when I ordered these. Ya think? I haven’t had time to listen to anything, just rip them into my mp3 catalog.

Everything else:
I have finally sold my soul to the devil. Two words: ‘Intel’ and ‘Microsoft.’ Need I say more?

I started a contract at Intel late in January. I am working on a C# project, building up a web-based inventory management system using ASP.Net 2.0, C# 2.0, and Visual Studio 2005. I still have unfinished projects with other clients that I am coding on at night and I am taking a couple of classes at PCC, Creative Writing and C#. Somewhere in there I found time to charm a new girlfriend into my world. She’s definitely a keeper with a real job and everything!

I need to talk about my Mom’s motorcycle adventures, but now is not the right time. Let’s just say: Her MSF class was a disaster and in response there is a Honda Ruckus in my garage and a Yamaha FJR1300A is on order. And people wonder why I am so stubborn?

I have new tires for the DL waiting at the shop. Once I get a little time, I will pull the wheels off the DL and take them in. Gene bought the air-driven tire changing machine, thingy. Once he gets it hooked up, I will give it a spin… My rear Trailwing has a huge flat spot right down the center line. What can you expect after over 8300 miles (still no chicken strips left on that puppy!), all covered since August. The new sneakers are Dunlop 607′s, ifI remember correctly. The rear has been back-ordered for 3 months. During that time I kind of lost track of exactly what I had ordered.

I haven’t had anytime to ride since I started working, just basic commuting whenever possible or required (free parking for moto’s @ school).

The ex-wife’s creditors keep calling. When they leave a message, I always call them back. Mostly to tell them to fuck-off, but at least I call them back. ‘I don’t know or care to know where she is and her money problems are just that, hers. Don’t call me again. Have a nice day!’

Laura bought me a subscription to Dual Sport News for X-mas and I am currently reading Leanings by Peter Egan.

The new woman is showing interest in riding. She has ridden scooters in foreign lands and cycled in Portland. I don’t expect the two-wheeled thing will give her any trouble from a learning stand point. She’s a smart cookie. Plus she likes it when I show up in leather and cordura. Leg length or the lack of will be her biggest challenge. I am sure we will find a solution.

It is heading toward midnight. I need sleep. Lots of sleep…
