A friend dragged me into the record store tonight.
“Yeah, right! Lie to someone who will believe you.”
“It’s my story and I can tell it anyway I like.”
“Sure. Whatever. Just get the details straight.”
“Are you done?”
“Have you ever seen a record store you didn’t like?”
“Yes.”
“When and where?!?”
“Late 80s, early 90s, in Nashville, all they had were cassette tapes of old and/or obscure country. I didn’t care for it.”
“OK. I guess that counts…”
“May I continue?”
…
Anyway.
We are cruising the aisles comparing musical experiences and preferences. I start picking up things. We started in the used section then migrated into the new material. I had a very good time.
- INXS: Switch
- Alarm: Strength
- Gen X: Kiss Me Deadly
- LA Guns: The Best of… (No, that is not an oxymoron)
- Terry Bozzio + Metropole Orket: Chamber Works
- Deep Forest III: Comparsa
- David Bowie: Christiane F. (Soundtrack)
- Rammstein: Rosenrot
- Faster Pussycat: Wake Me When It’s Over
An interesting assortment. The Rammstein is high on my list because it hasn’t been released in the US yet. Everything else has been on my wish list for a while or I didn’t know existed in CD form. In any case, more tunes for my programming and moto adventures.
PS: I rode to class last night. I am very close to cracking 8000 miles on my DL.
I blacked out my pipes last night… I removed everything up to the headers. The front header had to be loosened so the mid-pipe could clear the swingarm. Overall, it was an easy task. I spent four hours changing my oil, painting the pipes, painting the pipe on my YZF, messing with little things and reassembling everything. Mellow way to spend an evening I should think. Read more…
It was 47° and raining again as I stood in my driveway surveying the situation. I closed the door and came back inside. 30 minutes later, I couldn’t stand it any longer. I put on boots, cordura, jacked in my mp3 player and headed out. Fuel first, then down 6 toward the coastal range.
The rain ran down my shield as weekend traffic streamed past me. All heading into the city. Grips on low. My Vanson gloves keeping the water on the outside. The rain enforced reasonable speeds throughout the entire ride.
I took the scenic loop through Gales Creek, then over to Hagg Lake for a loop. I found Pepsi in a glass bottle at the corner convience store. I miss Pepsi in glass. It tastes different than when it is stored in plastic.
Darkness had fallen by the time I left the convience store. Back home without incident. My craving cured for a few more days.
It might be time to start peeling off bit and pieces to begin the color change from silver to flat black. Maybe. Maybe.
School starts again tomorrow. I have registered, but I think I might change one course. Traffic court on Tuesday afternoon. Hmm….
PS: I rolled 7800 miles today. Not bad for a bike I bought in August.
After the usual impromptu turn of events, Laura and I ended up under the St John’s bridge at Catherdal Park, shooting night photos on the first evening of the year. Her new camera needed some breaking in after all… I expect her images will appear on her site in a day or two.
All of these images were taken using a Olympus E-20N digital camera and processed in Adobe Photoshop 7. Only the pictures with no flash turned out, including shots of trees in the immediate foreground. The sodium lights of the park gave a golden hue to everything. Read more…
