Changing seasons…
I rode to work today. On the way home, I realized that fall is actually here. It’s time to install my heated grips and power outlet. I had heard there is an extra 12 volt socket behind the radiator. Taking it upon faith, I started striping away the bodywork and tank. I didn’t find the outlet until I removed the rad bolts and gently pushed it down and forward.

Circled.

Close up.
The black line with a white stripe is the ground, as you would expect. The other wire is orange with a green stripe, I think. Once I know which one is ground I really don’t care what the other color is. I cut off the connector and spliced a line up to the left side of the dash. I installed my heaters and socket in the flat black plastic to the left of the speedo. Nothing special as it is an obvious place… Everything works. I still need to put the body work back on. That will require a trip to the dealership, since I broke a few of those POS punch connectors. I should buy about 50 and deal with it each time I have to do anything to my bike.
Hey. There’s my first bitch about my DL. Those shitty little connectors… No, I am not interested in debating the points. I took debate. You’d loose or get pissed at me.
To who ever posted the note about the socket: “Thanks!” I heard about it from a friend who was doing research for me, so I never actually saw the post.
So, it’s late and there is a rumour that I might need to work tomorrow. Let’s hope not. I still have things to do before I can go camping this weekend. G’nite.
